Iam.ran will return to history in this article.
So far, I have covered sneaker culture in Indonesia, which has reached its peak and are updated from my point of view. I don't often cover old history articles, where scene or era where it began with sneaker culture in Indonesia. So that's why I thought to look back and find out when sneakers culture was still considered as underground movement and not as commercial as it is now.
to deepen the data on the people who built the sneaker culture in Indonesia / Visionairies who put some of the bricks and built the culture who played sneaker retail or resell at that time.
One of the names that often resonates is the shop that are often picked up in the ears of sneakers enthusia, shop that sells sneakers in the old era, the sneakers collector is no strange.
The store I mean was at Plaza Semanggi at that time called "The Lockers".
One of the stores that adopted the culture of sre-elling business in the era of the first sneaker culture to exist. not only that, this store builds and educates young people who can now be said helped adopt the culture of the next generation who are creative in culture sneakers.
with out this store like the familiar name Aji Handoko, or Soni dean, they are students from that place. the deeper I explored, finally I met visioair who opened a Locker shop. and finally I met and befriended the founder of Locker.
In this article, I interviewed Reinier and Arno, visionairies, one of the pioneer stores that opened a reselling sneakers and culture streetwear shop In the early 2000s, an era when sneakers were still considered underground movement because sneakers in general eyes were just sports shoe in indonesia, not as a lifestyle like now.
In my opinion, they are one of the visionaries who are very raw and love their culture more. this is one person to know if you love the sneaker scene.
for interested readers, this is a short interview with Bro Reinier and Arno Arno.

Like the name why lockers? What year was it open? And finally closed? What is the store's vision? Why was it opened there? Who were the founders? And why are lockers made? The team of lockers at that time was anyone. How can you share the culture of that era? And what about the sneakers market? Collections at the store can you tell me anything about it? Can you share some of the cool, weird, memorable, and bad things that happened at the store? In that era, were there other stores? How to get the shoes - collection? Do you buy from outside or become an agent?
Hehehehe, sorry if I immediately bombarded you with questions, I'm really interested and want you to tell the story so we can know and learn.

awal ide locker itu dari pas g kuliah di Canada - karna disono banyak foot locker - nah karna g demen NBA dan pernah kebetulan pas tour stadium masuk ke locker pemain. jadi sebelum ganti logo ke tulisan (The Locker - dibuat aja bang Aji) sebenernya logonya orang duduk di locker pemain sambil pegang sepatu Nike. Locker buka 2005 pas g balik dari Canada - jadi awalnya locker itu cuma g dan 1 lg namanya bejo. tapi bejo ga pernah setor modal jadi jujur g dulu emang cari partner. tiba2 out of nowhere datenglah 1 Cina beserta rombongan sirkus (namanya Reinier, Sony, Albert, sapa lg ya lupa g, kayanya andre silet). tiba2 Suhu Rein menawarkan masuk dan kebetulan karna knowledge luar biasa doi ya emang cocok pada pandangan pertama. jadi awal Locker ya g, Rein, Sony (3 ini) terakhir2 datenglah Dini, Gonjel, andre silet, dan elton. sebenernya yang kerja cuma 4 orang yang lain bantuin tanpa pamrih tiap hari jadi tempat nongkrong. dulu visi dan misi simple, dapetin sepatu2 aneh karna jaman dulu ga ada sneaker shop kaya sekarang (isi sport station ya tau lah). dan dulu jujur g ama rein suka banget nike jadi memang focusnya lebih ke nike holic lah, whatever nike. cara marketing dulu sih susah banget ga ada social media (adanya koran lampu merah), jadi jujur word of mouth dan karna sepatu2 kita aneh2 (alias setengah legal) toko kita terkenal sampe ke singapore , dan belanda. kalo ngomong grail sih jujur - semua nike sb yang sekarang jadi ga jelas harganya , adidas (swarovski, beastie boys, etc) semua nike ga jelas yang pernah di ban hahaha, kebanyakan jujur (intinya kalo tau harganya kaya sekarang, kita ga akan buka toko, kita taro di brankas smua). tutupnya sih simple; Sony jadi orang terkenal, gonjel jadi orang terkenal, rein jadi pengacara kondang, dan saya jadi bapak rumah tangga.

The initial idea of the locker came from when I was in college in Canada - because there were so many foot lockers there - because I really like the NBA and once happened to enter a player's locker when on a stadium tour. so before changing the logo to writing (The Locker - just made it bro Aji) actually the logo is a person sitting on a player's locker holding Nike shoes. The locker was opened in 2005 when I returned from Canada - so at first the locker was only G and one more called Bejo. but Bejo has never deposited capital, so to be honest, I used to be looking for a partner. suddenly out of nowhere came 1 cina and a circus troupe (the names were Reinier, Sony, Albert, who else forgot g, like andre razor). Suddenly, Temper Rein offered to enter and coincidentally because of his extraordinary knowledge, he did indeed match at first glance. So Locker starts, OK? G, Rein, Sony (these 3), finally Dini, Gonjel, Andre Silet, and Elton. actually there are only 4 other people who work selflessly helping each day so it's a place to hang out. In the past, the vision and mission were simple, getting strange shoes because in the old days there were no sneaker shops like now (filled with sports stations, you know). and in the past, to be honest, neither Rein really liked Nike, so the focus was more on Nike holic, whatever Nike. In the past, the marketing method was really difficult without social media (there was a red light newspaper), so to be honest, word of mouth and because our shoes were strange (aka semi-legal) our shop was well-known to Singapore and the Netherlands. when it comes to the grail, to be honest - all nike sb now is not clear on the price, adidas (swarovski, beastie boys, etc) it's not clear that all nikes have been banned hahaha, most of them are honest (the point is if you know the price like now, we won't open a shop , we put it in the safe all). the lid is simple; Sony became a famous person, Gonjel became a famous person, Rein became a famous lawyer, and I became a housewife.

meneruskan omongan Arno,
Toko kan semacam reseller jadi ya kita jual nike, adidas, new balance, bape dll. Ya dulu memang banyak lah cerita seru cuma mending diceritain lewat omongan sambil ngopi ya, heheheheh
English
continued Arno's talk,
It's clear that the culture of sneakers hasn't been formed yet, it's hard to sell them and people aren't very aware either, maybe it was during the era that shoes were just shoes, nothing special, didn't need to cost more, right? Sneakers at that time weren't seen as a good business. Stores are a kind of reseller, so we sell Nike, adidas, new balance, bape, etc. Yes, in the past, there were lots of exciting stories, but it's better to tell them through talking over coffee, okay, heheheheh

Guerrilla uncle, I like to challenge myself with as little capital as I have, how can I get sb etc. So I went to Taman Puri to look for shoes there, then I traded with sneakers resellers in Aussie, Japan and Hong Kong, I said that meant that first, so there was satisfaction. private

English
In the past, those who had Limited Edition Singapore, every time they went to Indo, bought Jordan kids for their children.
Goblin stuff from the past was crazy, we all have it and stuff just flows like what I said earlier, from the rare Adidas Beasty Boys, and others. the funny thing is the magic items in the shop we throw away and we don't really care because sometimes we think they are fake, but when we follow them in the media, we don't know rare items for aucutions and they come out on crooked tongues

Untuk sekarang , menurut gue , kalo untuk comete susah sih karena sekarang landscapenya udah ngak kayak dulu, udah bukan buat community, tapi udah jadi komoditas.

gue setuju sama Reinier , antara happy dan sedih kayak rada miss that good old days.
sekarang sih udah puyeng ama resell, banyakbener dan yang fake dan yang bener udah rancu, menurut gue doing what you like dan bikin trend sendiri is the next thing dan gue appreciate the hustle specially para reseller sekarang.
English
Personally, I'm happy now because the market has gotten really big, but to be honest, between those collecting and flipper, in the end it's money, so I personally am already lazy.
I agree with Reinier, being happy and sad is like a bit of a miss that good old day
now I'm already confused with resell, there are lots of real and fake ones and the real ones are already confused, in my opinion doing what you like and making your own trend is the next thing and I appreciate the hustle specially the resellers now.
